Someone else's turn

Today me and the other mums celebrated two three year olds with coffee and cake and while enjoying the refreshments, I had chance to do some hair. For my good friend I wanted to try the hair bow up do, I know she likes bows so this was definitely suitable for her.

Another style I've wanted to try already some time is carousel braid. It was really fun to do!

My own hair is open and I still haven't decided will I do something with it. If I will, you'll see the result tomorrow!

Equipment sport

I've come to an outcome that styling hair and taking good hair pictures have one thing in common -you need quality equipment! 

First of all,  I've been searching for a rehearsal head from internet already for few days. I have not decided if I will actually buy one but I'm tempted by the idea of always having a head waiting for me when I have time to do hair. Unfortunately those heads are not cheap and it's very difficult to buy one since styling hair is not my profession and I can't therefore use the stores directed to professional hair stylist. 

But my second equipment, portrait lense, I can buy immediately! My friend in the picture, who is half professional photographer, tipped me off about this portrait lense. These pictures are taken with it and they are taken inside, around four a clock. And they look so much better than my normal photos! What a difference good equipment makes!

And what comes to my hair, I wore a pony tail!

Rainy day

Today I'm wearing my hair open, there is nothing new to see in there. Luckily my friend let me do her hair, it's a fish tail braid bubble pony tail with some dutch braid accents.

Where is my light!

I so need to have more light in here, pictures are starting to look like this. 

Since there is less and less natural light in here I need to find some solution. Maybe I have my own photo studio set up. At least I need to use my camera for all the pictures because it makes them better.

Today was the second Monday of my non heat curls experiment. I promised last week that I would try the panties, and so I did. This is how looked like Sunday evening. I really did not feel so bright and I must admit that I hesitated before posting this to Instagram!

I also had my doubts about the curls, I was thinking there is not going to be any but I was wrong! The panties held the hair perfectly in place so I managed to get quite good curls out even though my hair is not long anymore. What I actually did was that I tied four loose knots out of my hair then put panties on to secure the knots.

These were the curls I got out. And the up do I made out of it was displayed in the two first pictures!

Busy Sunday

Our day was full of program today, first we had family day that my husbands work had organized, we went to a near by indoor science park for kids, Heureka. We had loads of fun! In the afternoon we had a date with our friend couple, we went to check their new house, it was amazing!

So I chose today to try out my new Remington curling wand. I only burned my self in the neck and thumb. I must say that I need much more practice with that. I after all managed to make some curls and they also looked quite nice, at least until I stepped outside to the rain...Well, my curls had a boho look in the evening.

I squeezed in two other hair do's, other one is this 15 minute bow bun. For the time I had I like the look of it. The other one was just for practice...

Braid it baby!

My friend asked me to do this specific style on her, she was going to a baby shower. I really like this look on her, her hair looks very thick like this.

For me I tried this dutch braid + fish tail braid combo, It could have worked better if I actually would have long hair!

My husband comes home today, great, he's been away just one night but still I miss him. And weekend start, oh yes!

Today I did'n bother with hair, only did this kind of waterfall braid to spice up my pony tail.

More halloween hair

Made this pumpkin today, it could be better. Otherwise had a hair free day! :)

Preparing for Halloween!

I saw in Instagram this contest hosted by sabbysstyles92 about Halloween hair and got immediately an idea about spider hair. Since it's so cold in the mornings us mums tend to want to stay inside and wait before it gets more warm and that time is my time to do some hair! I could say that mums in our yard have the best styled hair in this side of the town! I managed to do the spider even though it was challenge since there is a double amount of kids comparing to us mums and all kids are under three.  In the end the spider was changed to a braided bun since we were going outside. 

I was thinking that that spider was enough for hair doing for today until I saw a pictorial about how to make a pretzel braid. Had to try it and so I had a small pretzel in my hair to make my own pony tail more fun

In the end I also started to learn about how to braid with four sections, I now know two different ways. I immediately tried it on to one other mum! I made a ribbon braid with four sections. I like this style of braiding with ribbon very much, the ribbon looks so nice in the middle.

So much to do, so little time!

I'm so obsessed with hair lately. I just want to do new things all the time and I have so much ideas. Unfortunately time is my limit now, most of the things I want to do, I can't do with the kids around. Need to solve this problem still. Can I put to the kids to day care just because I want to braid?

Anyway, this is what I've done today. Pull through braid to a mum friend.

Dutch lace braid and a rope pony tail to another friend. I was entering Ice_braids #fallrecreation2 challenge with this one in Instagram.

I went to a Me and I -party in the evening and there where these little girls who wanted me to do them "an up do". They didn't have so much age or patience so I quickly did something what I remembered #jennishairstyles had earlier made. Pictures are very bad but the other one is a heart and the other a star. I also did one snake braid but I dont't have a picture of that.

And what about my hair? It was open I was supposed to curl it, I wanted to try my new curling wand but then I locked my self and the kids outside in the afternoon. By the time my husband got home I did not have any time to do any curling. Maybe tomorrow, then.

My new project!

I've been thinking about non heat curls for a while. I counted and I know at least 9 ways to do them. So my new project is that every Monday I'm going to show you one style with one type of non heat curls. I'm interested about what kind of curls I get with each method and what kind of hair I can make of that. Curls usually look very nice with little girls but I would like to see what kind of grown up styles I can make of it.

These are the items I'm going to use to do the curls. There are toilet paper, socks, straws, kitchen foil, bobby pins, bun pins, braids and panties.

I started the project with braids. Yesterday evening i made seven small cornrow braids to my hair. This was the part when my arms got very tired!

I got these kind of curls out.

I kind of liked the curls already open but since the type of curl is little bit like a curl which is made with a texturing iron I decided to do a bubble pony tail. Bubble pony tails always look good in 

curly hair since the curls give the pony tail more texture and volume. This was the end result what I'm wearing today!

I love me!

I was yesterday visiting a beaty/fashion/health fair called I love me, and I loved me so much that I just needed to bring these babies home! I can no more say I don't have a hair dryer! :)

As I earlier told, I was so lucky that I won the fair tickets in a competition I entered. The price also included a beauty school -moment in Mariela Sarkima beaty -section, me and my friend Pirita had a blast creating our selves smoky eyes. I learned that making them is  as easy as doing hair, you just need to have right equipment and you need to know what you are doing! The last surprise of the day was to receive a free gift bag and a glass of sparkling, that made our day!

And then to hair. Yesterday I wore my hair open, I don't have a pic from that. That was kind of a last minute decision, first I made my self this up do. I took it of because I thought it was too fancy for the fair.

I also did this up do to my sweet friend, her little girl turned three and they had a big party! This was inspired by a post of @missysueblog in ig.

New hobby

I've just found You Tube excersice videos, I think they are great if you need to do your work out at home! In the morning I had my hair open but since I wanted to do a work out I tied it up. I had a really good work out and hair looks still nice!

Rope french braid

Here is my first ever rope french braid. It was actually very easy to do. I promised for my friend that I'll do her an up do on Saturday and this is one element of  the up do, so I just wanted to check can I easily do this. Luckily yes!

I'm a winner!

I usually don't enter competitions but this week I'm been obsessed to win tickets to I love me -fair here in Helsinki. The fair is all about beauty, health, hair and nails and there are so many exhibitors I would like to meet and visit. And so it happened that today I was informed that I won two tickets to the fair AND we also get to attend a beauty workshop about how to do a smoky eyes! I'm thrilled!

But back to todays hair. I wanted to have some simple, casual but still grown up style other than just a ponytail, so I did a braid headband with pony tail. The braid is lace braid, I would have wanted to try with fishtail but time run out and kids were too wild. I still like this a lot!

Day off from work

Today I did not do anything special for my hair, I took a day off and had a ponytail. In ig I updated some old photos. Ponytail worked wonderful for mornings play date and afternoons You Tube work out. Sometimes you just got to have day off, right?

More experiments

I have had short hair, or long bob, only for few weeks and I'm already experimenting how to make my hair look longer!

I'm planning to enter huge twinning challenge by #hairstylesbygabby in ig on coming Saturday. Twinning means that you and one or more people create a same hairstyle on same day, take a picture and put it in ig. The style should be a messy bun and fishtail braids around it so that was what I was after today.

Considering that I got the idea to try this today and that I have short hair I think this worked out quite well.

Last but not the least

Firstly I want to share with you the last of the up do's I did to someone else this weekend. This is my personal favorite, I especially love  that it's not too neat.

For my own hair I today created a braid up do. In the front I have dutch braid, little bit pancaked one, the two other braids are lace braids. The ends are tucked underneath my ear.
